Colton Welch is a Class of 2027 student-athlete and two-year varsity wide receiver at A&M Consolidated High School. A versatile competitor with experience at wide receiver, quarterback, tight end, safety, and linebacker, Colton brings a strong understanding of the game from multiple positions on both sides of the football.
Known for his reliable hands, physical playing style, determination, and football IQ, Colton has developed into more than a player—he has become a leader, coach, and student of the game.
Colton’s commitment to football has remained strong through adversity. After suffering a meniscus injury early in his junior season and an ACL injury during spring practice, he refused to disconnect from his team. While completing his recovery, he continues contributing to the varsity program as a student coach, helping teammates, studying game situations, and sharing what he has learned from his playing experience.
His passion for football began at five years old. By age 13, Colton had become one of the youngest volunteer head coaches in NFL Aggieland Flag, leading both 6U and 8U teams for three seasons. That early coaching experience allowed him to develop leadership, communication, preparation, and player-development skills well beyond his age.
In 2024, Colton expanded his involvement in the game by becoming one of the league’s youngest officials. His knowledge, judgment, and performance earned him selection as one of only three officials chosen to work the NFL Aggieland Flag Super Bowl championship games during both the spring and fall 2025 seasons. He later returned to officiating while recovering from his ACL injury.
Colton’s experience as a varsity athlete, youth head coach, student coach, and recognized official gives him a unique view of football. He understands the game from the perspectives of a player, coach, and official—an uncommon combination that continues to strengthen his leadership and football intelligence.
His long-term goal is to become an NCAA Division I college football coach. Colton plans to pursue a master’s degree in Sports Management while exploring opportunities to compete as a college athlete or contribute to a collegiate program as a student coach.
Colton’s versatility, resilience, leadership experience, and dedication to learning the game make him a promising candidate for college programs seeking a hardworking student-athlete with the character and ambition to make a lasting impact.
